This Privacy Policy explains how the Where Dogs Lead mobile application handles information when you use the app. If you have any privacy questions, contact privacy@wheredogslead.co.uk.

Information the app may handle

• Account information: your email address and authentication details used to create and access your account.
• Dog profile information: details you choose to add, such as a dog's name and profile image.
• Walk information: route, location points, distance, duration, date and time for walks you choose to record.
• Photos: images you choose to take or add to walks and dog profiles.
• Permission and device information: information needed to determine whether features such as location, camera and notifications can operate correctly.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide and support app features, including:

• signing you in and keeping your account secure;
• recording and displaying dog walks and routes;
• showing walk history, memories and dog profiles;
• attaching photos to walks or profiles;
• providing map, weather and location-related functionality where enabled;
• responding to support and privacy requests.

Location data

Where Dogs Lead uses precise location while you record a walk so that it can calculate and display your route, distance and related walk information. Location may continue to be used during an active walk when the app is in the background, where your device permissions allow this.

The app does not use location data for advertising and does not sell location data.

Storage and third-party services

Walk routes, dog profile information and app photos are currently stored on your device as part of the app's normal operation. Account authentication is handled using Firebase Authentication.

Where Dogs Lead also uses services supplied by Google for functionality such as authentication and maps. Those services may process technical or usage information needed to provide their features in accordance with their own privacy terms.

Sharing and sale of information

We do not sell your personal information. Information is not shared with advertisers. Information may be processed by service providers only where necessary to provide app functionality, comply with the law, protect users or the service, or respond to a request you make.

Photos and camera access

Camera and photo access is used only when you choose to take or select an image for an app feature. The app does not continuously access your camera.

Data retention and deletion

Locally stored walk and profile information remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app's data or uninstall the app, subject to the features available in the app.

Children

Where Dogs Lead is not directed specifically at children and is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate permission.

Security

Reasonable technical measures are used to protect information handled by the app. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app or its services change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
